About Tuition
My private teaching practice is based in East Devon, on the outskirts of Exeter.
Small Group Tuition for Beginners
(age 4 upwards, including adults)
An excellent way of beginning lessons is to start with a small group of friends of a similar age. Lessons focus on understanding music and on musicianship, as well as acquiring a good working technique and ensemble skills.
Group Tuition rates:
£7 per pupil per half hour (groups of 2 pupils)
£7 per pupil per 45 minutes (groups of 3 or 4 pupils)
Individual Tuition for Beginners or Existing Players
(age 3 upwards, including adults)
Suitable for advancing players and those with a special interest. Tuition will be carefully tailored to the individual pupil, with their aims and aspirations as a focus. These aims may include specific goals, for example, passing a Grade exam, preparing for a music scholarship, working on the GCSE music performance element, entering a competition or festival, or taking part in a concert. Some pupils may not have examinations or scholarships in mind, but may aspire to improve their general playing, for example, to play with more reliable tuning, a better sound, a greater range of expression or to master specific techniques such as vibrato. Some pupils may have reached a plateau in their playing and require a boost in the form of fresh ideas, new repertoire or new goals to work towards.
Whatever your situation, whether you require regular weekly or fortnightly lessons or just one or two top-ups, I am always ready to offer sympathetic, friendly and expert individual tuition.
(Please note that if you already learn with another teacher, I will require written permission from them before I can teach you. An exception is made for the first lesson, where this is requested as a consultation.)
